Texana 180

Well, I found out there is a desert buggy and truck group called Texas Desert Racing Assoc. They put on a couple of races each year for cars, buggies and trucks, and this year they added a few races for motos!

The bikes and quads race on the same course, but separate from the cages for safety. Our race is shorter too, only about 100 miles vs 180mi.

I signed up and entered, they have minimum number of bikes/quads they need to hold the race so fingers crossed they make the cut.

I’m excited! After racing bicycles for a over a decade I  cant wait to try racing motorcycles. My excitement is tempered by the fact that if I finish this, that represents only about 8% of a peninsula run at the Baja1K. OUCH.

I’ve got some new tires, and my skidplate and hand-guards are installed. I’d like a 3.2gal gas tank but don’t really need it on a 50mi lap 😦

If this goes well, I will start serious planing for a Parker 250 and Vegas-to-Reno attempt in 2018.
